MUSIC LESSONS

For more than fifteen years, Geoff Shell maintained a thriving private music studio, helping students of all ages develop their skills as musicians, performers, songwriters, and composers. While Geoff's professional focus has since shifted toward film scoring, production, and performance, his years as an educator remain an important part of his musical journey.

Originally from Chicago, Geoff built a diverse career performing with acclaimed artists and groups including Kaeyra, the Chicago Afrobeat Project featuring Tony Allen, Polarcode, and numerous touring and regional acts. As a bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist, Geoff brought real-world performance experience into every lesson, giving students practical insight that extended far beyond traditional music instruction.

Alongside teaching, Geoff developed an accomplished career as a composer and producer. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music in Film Scoring, he has composed music for feature films, documentaries, short films, theater, and multimedia productions. Most recently, Geoff composed the original score for the feature film Sunset Strip Killers, continuing a career centered around cinematic storytelling through music.

Geoff has remained an active performer throughout Southern California, serving as keyboardist and vocalist for Pretending Chrissie, bassist for All Fired Up: A Tribute to Pat Benatar, co-founder of Ghost Radio, performer with the acoustic duo Just Too... alongside Wild Rose, and pianist and accompanist for Congregation Beth Israel in San Diego.

Although Geoff no longer maintains a regular teaching studio, the hundreds of lessons he taught over the years helped shape his collaborative approach to music. His passion for mentoring continues through his work with artists, filmmakers, producers, and fellow musicians, where he enjoys sharing knowledge, encouraging creativity, and helping bring musical ideas to life.
